Both yes and no. If you decide not to invest in college after our entire process is complete, you will not get your money back if your only reason is that you have now changed your mind. Yes! College esports are not governed by the NCAA or any of the other traditional sports associations that set rules and regulations for college sports. Many college esports players regularly compete in, and win money in, the top tournaments.

To have any chance of getting an esports scholarship, you should be as good as possible at your game. However, there is no fixed “rank” on how good you have to be at any specific game to receive a scholarship. You can read more about scholarships HERE.
Yes of course. But this can get very tricky because it means you have to find an esports team to play for during the summer. You will also have to cover your own expenses during the summer as this is not covered by the school.
Obviously! There is no straight path to playing professional esports but college is definitely not a step in the wrong direction, in fact it can be the perfect step in the right direction! You can read more about it HERE.
When you are an esports student, your esports will always come first. The teachers are very understanding and will handle the situation for you. If you have a test at the same time as you have a tournament to play, the test will run second and therefore give you the chance to take the test either before or after the match.

The season depends on which game you play. Although the season is usually played in both the spring and fall seasons. It also depends on how far your team goes in your esports tournaments as this also depends on how long your season will last. If you go all the way to the NACE Starleague finals, you will of course play longer than someone who was eliminated before.
The esports culture in America is amazing. Every American college has a desire to be the best, which makes the experience of sharing the room with other players in your game something you will never forget. The love, interest and passion from everyone at the school is amazing. The school, its teachers, and coaches will support you in every possible way and it may even be better than a professional esports team. You will also have many supporters from the students at the school as you all represent the school and everyone wants to be the best!
No, that’s not how college esports leagues work as all teams have divisions and this is where you play. It doesn’t matter if you win all your matches or lose all your matches.
This of course depends a lot on which school you play for, but all schools naturally want to train as much as possible. This means that you will play for a few hours every day, but there will always be a day off, because every college has your well-being in mind and certainly does not want you to burn yourself out.

The National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) is a non-profit membership association. NACE is an esports league that has over 200 schools in its league so NACE is the largest membership association for college esports programs at schools across the United States

No, you must graduate from high school before you can attend college in the United States. College is university studies, which means that if you decide to continue studying after high school, you can apply to college.
The SAT stands for “Scholastic Assessment Test”, this test is used across the United States for college admissions. This test is a requirement for all students who want a scholarship. You can read more about the test HERE.
Duolingo English Test is a modern language proficiency tool designed for today’s international students and institutions. It offers an English score, video interview and written test in an accessible, efficient and secure testing experience. This is also something you can do instead of a TOEFL test and the best thing about a Duolingo test is that this is a test you will take online so the pressure of being in a classroom is off. The ACT is a test you must take to be eligible for a scholarship. The ACT is an academic test that tests your skills in math, reading, science, and English. The ACT and SAT are complementary tests, therefore you only need to take one of the tests and we at Luna always recommend taking the SAT as we feel this is the better choice of the two.
TOEFL stands for “Test of English as a Foreign Language” which means that this test will test your English skills. This is a test that all international students must take to study in the United States. You can read more about the test HERE
IELTS stands for “The International English Language Testing System” and this is another test you can take to test your English skills. All schools have different requirements for what you need to score on this exam.
This is something you will receive specific information about during the process. We have examples of what a good academic recommendation letter should look like.
No, you do not need to have graduated from high school before starting your process. By starting early, you maximize your chances of getting the chance to get as many scholarships and reach as many schools as possible. But you can’t start your college journey before your graduation.
In the US, they don’t use the same course requirements as you do at a European university. You are not as locked into what you are eligible to study in the US as you might be in some countries in Europe. So no, it doesn’t really matter what courses you take in high school.
In order to be admitted to the country’s absolute best university, you must have the absolute best possible grades and also get the very high test results. You also need to be good enough at your game to get a spot on the team.

No! In the US, everyone takes the same courses in high school and they have no credit points.

Anyone who wants and decides to pass college, can pass college. There are different levels for everyone and it also depends on which program you choose, but the most important thing to know is that all schools want you to pass your studies and therefore there is all possible help to get. A bachelor’s degree usually takes 4 years to complete. However, you can decide what pace you want while studying, whether you want to finish college faster or slower. Your scholarship covers 4 years of education. There are also other educations, such as an Associate Degree which takes 2 years, and a certificate takes 1 year. A semester is usually between 15 weeks, including one week of vacation (spring/autumn break).
The academic year in college is usually divided into two terms, fall and spring. Each semester is approximately 4 months long. Autumn (September – December) Spring (January – May)
Yes! Depending on how many hours, also called credits, you have studied per semester, you still have the option to change your major. Usually this is something that can be done between the first 1-2 years.
A major is a specific subject area that students specialize in. Typically, between one-third and one-half of the courses you take in college will be in or related to your major. At some colleges, you can even major in two fields.
No! You decide yourself how long you want to be abroad, and it’s not something you need to know before you go. The best thing is to take everything day by day. You can read more about it HERE.
Yes you can! But keep in mind that these courses must be in the same curriculum as your education at home. So if you would like to move home and start studying, the first year at college is usually just introductory subjects and is therefore usually not included in any education at home.
It is usually recommended that you study at least 12 units per semester. To get your bachelor’s in four years, you usually have to study 15 units per semester. If you want CSN, you must read at least 12 units per semester. The maximum number of units you can study is 16.
A unit is a value that indicates how much college credit is given to a course. In general, one hour of lecture per week is equivalent to one credit.
Yes, there are certain educational programs you should avoid when studying abroad because they do not follow the European school system. The different educations have different requirements that must be met by the school system in Sweden, but many of them are absolutely accepted.
A minor is a second choice, or something you specialize in after your bachelor’s. This can be useful to show that you have many areas that you master.
Your grade will be determined by the tasks you will do in your course. There are homework and assignments every week, there are tests and presentations. You will also be graded by participating in lectures and discussions and by showing interest in your courses throughout the semesters. It is usually like this that you will have 2 big exams during your course, a “midterm” which is in the middle of the course. The other big exam is at the end of your semester, the “final”. These are the most important exams during your education. Your “midterms” can also be split into 2,3 or more throughout the course. This is what will ultimately base your final grades.

You can be any age, but the best age is right after you graduate.
Yes and no. Not all schools will be able to give away an esports scholarship but there are academic and international scholarships that you can still get.
There are many different scholarships! The most common are the athletic, academic and international scholarships. You will therefore qualify for an athletic scholarship but in this case it is for esports. You can read more about it HERE.
Yes! All scholarships for which you are eligible can be combined. This means that your expenses will be minimized.
Yes it can! There is a possibility that you can get a higher scholarship after good performance.
Yes! There are many scholarships you can apply for. Even though we at Luna do not have all the knowledge about all the different scholarships that you can get throughout Sweden, we can help you if there is a chance for a scholarship from Sweden.
A scholarship is money that students will receive while studying at a college in America for the purpose of reducing the students’ out-of-pocket expenses for school. A scholarship can be any percentage from 1 to 100 of the school’s entire costs and can also cover education, housing and food.

No! The schools will award the same scholarships to both girls and boys because it is something they are obliged to do.
Yes. Although this is very rare as your scholarship will only be reduced if you misbehave or disobey school rules.

Yes, you can. Almost all schools have a good relationship with various companies and former students who work there. This creates an environment where you have many opportunities for practice.

Yes, this is always a possibility! Of course, we cannot guarantee that you will both receive the same scholarships or even be contacted by the same schools, but if this is something you want, we will absolutely do our best. If you go with a friend, you probably won’t get as high of a scholarship because you’re both competing for a scholarship.
Both yes and no! Being an esports player, you will usually play online which means you stay on your campus and play. However, if you and your team go far in tournaments, or are invited to various events and tournaments, you will travel a lot to several different states which will be an absolutely incredible feeling! Your coach is usually involved when this is decided, as coaches usually want to split you up with others you will be playing with. This means you will probably be placed with someone from your team and maybe even be placed with another first year player.
This depends on the school you choose, some schools require you to live on campus and others do not. However, to minimize your expenses, you should consider living on campus even if you don’t have to. The biggest reason to live on campus is the magical campus environment and campus life. The best thing about living off campus is that if you are a lot of people, you can all get together to get an apartment together, which will make your total costs lower. You also decide how much you want to eat which can also be good.
The size of American schools can vary from 700 students to over 60,00 students. A big campus like UCLA is almost like a small town. They have restaurants, shops and even a hospital. However, the best thing about a small campus is that you will feel like you matter more. What we mean by this is that you will get a family feeling and you can have a better focus in your class because the teacher to student ratio is greater. Yes! International students can of course take a sabbatical after graduation, this can even be recommended because then you have had the chance to really think about your next chapter in your life.
It depends on the school. However, the usual time schools want their college athletes to be present is 2-3 weeks before the semester starts as it can usually be a preseason. And of course this is the same for esports players.

There is such an age limit to start studying in college! So anyone can go!
Nothing unusual happens. You will live in your dorm or wherever you live and contact your school about staying away from your classes. If your team has a big game you may be able to fight through it or they postpone the game, or if your team has substitutes then they will be substituted.
You don’t need to panic. You will still keep your scholarship as usual and receive all the help possible for your recovery. If you were to miss a full year from your injury, you get a bonus year, which means that nothing really happens, just that your year is postponed by 1 year. You can read more about injuries HERE.

När du är esports student kommer din esport alltid att gå först. Lärarna är mycket förstående och kommer att hantera situationen åt dig. Om du har ett test samtidigt som du har en turnering att spela, kommer testet att gå i andra hand och ger dig därför chansen att göra testet antingen före eller efter matchen.

Ja! Allt som är relaterat till esport som datorer, tangentbord, och annat. Du kommer till och med att få  lagtröjor och annat som ditt college kommer att finansiera.

Säsongen beror på vilket spel du spelar. Även om säsongen vanligtvis spelas på både vår- och höst säsongerna. Det beror också på hur långt ditt lag går i dina esports turneringar eftersom detta också beror på hur länge din säsong kommer att pågå. Går du hela vägen till NACE Starleague finalen kommer du givetvis att spela längre än någon som blev utslagen tidigare.

Varje amerikanskt college har en önskan om att vara bäst, vilket gör att upplevelsen att dela rummet med andra spelare i ditt spel är något du aldrig kommer att glömma. Kärleken, intresset och passionen från alla på skolan är fantastisk. Skolan, dess lärare, och tränare kommer att stödja dig på alla möjliga sätt och det kan till och med vara bättre än ett professionellt esportslag. Ni kommer också att ha många supportrar från eleverna på skolan då ni alla representerar skolan och alla vill bli bäst!

Nej, det är inte så esportsligor på college fungerar då alla lag har divisioner och det är här du spelar. Det spelar ingen roll om du vinner alla dina matcher eller förlorar alla dina matcher.

Detta kommer naturligtvis mycket från vilken skola du spelar för men alla skolor vill såklart träna så mycket som möjligt. Det betyder att du kommer att spela några timmar varje dag, men det kommer alltid att finnas en ledig dag, eftersom varje college tänker på ditt välmående och vill absolut inte att du ska bränna ut dig.

Duolingo English Test är ett modernt språkfärdighetsverktyg designat för dagens internationella studenter och institutioner. Det erbjuder ett betyg på engelska, videointervju och skrivprov i en tillgänglig, effektiv och säker testupplevelse. Detta är också något du kan göra istället för ett TOEFL-test och det bästa med ett Duolingo-test är att detta är ett test du kommer att göra online så trycket av att vara i ett klassrum är avstängt. ACT är ett test du måste göra för att vara berättigad till ett stipendium. ACT är ett akademiskt test som testar dina kunskaper i matematik, läsning, naturvetenskap och engelska. ACT och SAT är tester som tar ut varandra, därför behöver du bara göra ett av proven och vi på Luna rekommenderar alltid att göra SAT-testet då vi känner att detta är det bästa valet av de två.

Ja! När du blir antagen till college blir du antagen till skolan, alltså inte programmet. Så efter antagningen kan du välja vilket program på skolan du kan vill gå på. Du kan läsa mer om det HÄR.

Ja! Du kan börja gymnasiet både på vår och höst terminen. Det finns positiva anledningar till båda säsongerna. Du kan läsa mer om det HÄR.

Alla som vill och bestämmer sig för att klara college, kan klara college. Det finns olika nivåer för alla och det beror också på vilket program du väljer men det viktigaste att veta är att alla skolor vill att du ska klara dina studier och därför finns det all möjlig hjälp att få. En bachelor tar vanligtvis 4 år att avsluta. Däremot kan du bestämma vilket tempo du vill ha medan du studerar, om du vill avsluta college snabbare eller långsammare. Ditt stipendium omfattar 4 års utbildning. Det finns även andra utbildningar, som till exempel en Associate Degree som tar 2 år, och ett certifikat tar 1 år. College frågor

En termin är vanligtvis mellan 15 veckor, inklusive en veckas semester (vår-/höstlov).

Läsåret på college är vanligtvis uppdelat i två terminer, höst och vår. Varje termin är cirka 4 månader lång.

Höst (September – December)

Vår  (Januari – Maj)

Ja! Beroende på hur många timmar, även kallat poäng, du har studerat per termin har du fortfarande möjlighet att byta huvudämne. Vanligtvis är detta något som kan göras mellan de första 1-2 åren.

Ett huvudämne är ett specifikt ämnesområde som studenterna är specialiserade på. Vanligtvis kommer mellan en tredjedel och hälften av de kurser du tar på college att vara i ditt huvudämne eller relaterade till den. På vissa college kan du till och med ha en major inom två områden.

Nej! Du bestämmer själv hur länge du vill vara utomlands, och det är inget du behöver veta innan du åker. Det bästa är att ta allt dag för dag. Du kan läsa mer om det HÄR.

Ja det kan du! Men tänk på att dessa kurser måste ligga i samma kursplan som din utbildning hemma. Så om du skulle vilja flytta hem och börja plugga så är första året på college oftast bara introduktionsämnen och ingår därför oftast inte i någon utbildning där hemma.

Rekommenderat är vanligtvis att man studerar minst 12 units per termin. För att få din bachelor’s på fyra år måste du vanligtvis läsa 15 units per termin. Om du vill ha CSN måste du läsa minst 12 units per termin. Det maximala antalet units du kan studera är 16.

En unit är ett värde som anger hur mycket collegepoäng som ges till en kurs. I allmänhet motsvarar en timmes föreläsning i veckan en poäng.

Ja, det finns vissa utbildningsprogram du bör undvika när du studerar utomlands eftersom dessa inte följer det europeiska skolsystemet. Du bör undvika medicinska och juristutbildningar då dessa följer olika lagar och regler. Detta är något vi kommer att diskutera med dig när vi diskuterar dina akademiska val.

Det finns så många bra program som du kan välja mellan men det beror också på vilken skola du väljer. Du kan läsa mer HÄR.

De olika utbildningarna har olika krav som måste mötas av skolsystemet i Sverige, men många av dem accepteras absolut.

En minor är ett andrahandsval, eller något du specialiserar dig på efter din bachelor’s. Detta kan vara användbart för att visa att du har många områden som du behärskar.

Ditt betyg kommer att avgöras genom de uppgifter du kommer att göra i din kurs. Det är läxor och inlämningar varje vecka, det är prov och presentationer. Du kommer också att betygsättas genom att delta i föreläsningar och diskussioner och genom att visa intresse för dina kurser genom hela terminerna. Det är oftast såhär att du kommer att ha 2 stora prov under din kurs, en “midterm” som är mitt i kursen. Det andra stora provet är i slutet av din termin, “finals”. Det här är de viktigaste proven under din utbildning. Dina “midterms” kan också delas upp i 2,3 eller fler genom hela kursen. Detta är vad som i slutändan kommer att grunda dina slutbetyg.

stipendium frågor

Du kan vara vilken ålder som helst, men den bästa åldern är precis efter att du har tagit examen.

Ja och nej. Inte alla skolor kommer att kunna ge bort ett esports stipendium men det finns akademiska och internationella stipendier som du fortfarande kan få.

Det finns många olika stipendier! De vanligaste är de atletiska, akademiska och internationella stipendierna. Du kommer därför att kvalificera dig för ett atletisk stipendium men i det här fallet är det för esport. Du kan läsa mer om det HÄR.

Ja! Alla stipendier som du är kvalificerad för kan kombineras. Detta innebär att dina utgifter kommer att minimeras.

Ja det kan det göra! Det finns en möjlighet att du kan få ett högre stipendium efter bra prestationer.

Ja! Det finns många stipendier du kan söka. Även om vi på Luna inte har all kunskap om alla olika stipendier som du kan få i hela Sverige så kan vi hjälpa dig om det finns en chans för stipendium från Sverige. 

Ett stipendium är pengar som studenter kommer att få när de studerar på ett college i Amerika i syfte att minska elevernas egna kostnader för skolan. Ett stipendium kan vara valfri procentandel från 1 till 100 av skolans hela kostnader och kan även täcka utbildning, bostad och mat.

Ja! Det är svårt, men inte omöjligt. Att vara en esportspelare blir det ännu svårare. Du kan läsa mer om full ride-stipendier HÄR.

Nej! Skolorna kommer att dela ut samma stipendier till både tjejer och killar eftersom det är något de är skyldiga att göra.

Ja. Även om detta är mycket ovanligt eftersom ditt stipendium endast kommer att minskas om du beter dig illa eller inte följer skolans regler.

Student frågor

Jo det kan du. Nästan alla skolor har en god relation med olika företag och gamla studenter som jobbar där. Detta skapar en miljö där du har många möjligheter till praktik.

Dina träningstimmar kommer att schemaläggas, du schemalägger senare dina föreläsningar så att de inte kraschar.

Ja, detta är alltid en möjlighet! Vi kan givetvis inte garantera att ni båda kommer att få samma stipendier eller ens bli kontaktade av samma skolor men om detta är något ni vill kommer vi absolut att göra vårt bästa. Om du åker med en vän kommer du förmodligen inte att få så höga stipendier eftersom ni båda tävlar om ett stipendium.

Både ja och nej! Eftersom du är en esports spelare kommer du vanligtvis att spela online vilket innebär att du stannar på ditt campus och spelar. Däremot, om du och ditt lag kommer långt i turneringar, eller blir inbjudna till olika evenemang och turneringar, så kommer du att resa mycket till flera olika delstater vilket kommer vara en helt otrolig känsla! Din tränare är vanligtvis involverade när detta besluts, eftrersom tränarna vill oftast dela in dig med andra du kommer att spela med. Detta betyder att du förmodligen kommer att placeras med någon från ditt lag och kanske till och med bli placerad med en annan förstaårsspelare.

Detta beror på vilken skola du väljer, vissa skolor kräver att du bor på campus och andra inte. Men för att minimera dina utgifter bör du överväga att bo på campus även om du inte måste. Den största anledningen till att du ska bo på campus är den magiska miljön på campus och campuslivet. Du kan läsa mer om campuslivet HÄR.

Det bästa med att bo utanför campus är att om ni är många personer så kan ni alla samlas för att få en lägenhet tillsammans vilket kommer att göra era totala kostnader lägre. Du bestämmer också hur mycket du vill äta vilket också kan vara bra.

Storleken på amerikanska skolor kan variera från 700 elever till över 60 00 elever. Ett stort campus som UCLA är nästan som en liten stad. De har restauranger, butiker och till och med ett sjukhus. Det bästa med ett litet campus är dock att du kommer att känna att du betyder mer. Vad vi menar med detta är att du kommer att få en familjekänsla och du kan få ett bättre fokus i din klass eftersom förhållandet mellan lärare och studenter är större. Ja! Internationella studenter kan naturligtvis ta ett sabbatsår efter examen, detta kan till och med rekommenderas eftersom då har du fått chansen att verkligen fundera på ditt nästa kapitel i ditt liv.

Det beror på skolan. Men den vanliga tiden skolorna vill att sina collegeidrottare ska vara närvarande är 2-3 veckor innan terminen börjar eftersom det kan oftast är en försäsong. Och detta är såklart samma för esports spelare.

Det finns så åldersgräns för att börja studera på college! Så vem som helst kan gå!

Inget ovanligt händer. Du kommer att bo på i din dorm eller var du än bor och kontakta din skola om att hålla dig borta från dina klasser. Om ditt lag har en stor match kanske du kan kämpa dig igenom den eller så skjuter de upp matchen, eller om ditt lag har avbytare kommer de då att bytas in.

Du behöver inte få panik. Du kommer fortfarande att behålla ditt stipendium som vanligt och få all hjälp som är möjlig för din återhämtning. Om du skulle missa ett helt år från din skada får du ett bonusår, vilket betyder att det egentligen inte händer något bara att ditt år skjuts upp 1 år. Du kan läsa mer om skador HÄR.
